Create a form library

Create a form library

When you first create a form library, unless you have additional form templates installed, you can choose a blank form as the form template for your form library. This form template is a placeholder file. Before you can start filling out and adding forms to the library, you will need to create your own custom form template that will serve as the basis for all forms created in the form library.

Note  In order to create form libraries, you must have permission to modify the site where the form library will be stored.

Create a form library

  1. On the top link bar, click Create.
  2. On the Create Page page, under Document Libraries, click Form Library.
  3. In the Name box, type a name for the library. The form library name is required.
  4. In the Description box, type text that describes the purpose of the library. The description is optional.
  5. To add a link to this library on the Quick Launch bar, in the Navigation section, click Yes.
  6. To create a backup copy of a file each time it is checked into the library, in the Document Versions section, click Yes.
  7. In the Form Template section, select the form template you want to specify as the type of form for all forms in the library.
  8. At the bottom of the page, click Create.

Customize a blank form template

  1. On the page that displays the form library, under Actions, click Modify settings and columns.
  2. To open and customize the blank form template in the default Windows SharePoint Services compatible XML editor installed on your computer, on the Customize page, in the General Settings section, to the right of the Template location, click Edit Template.
