About themes

A theme is a unified set of design elements that influence the fonts and color schemes when you apply it to a Web site based on Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services. Applying a theme is a quick and easy way to ensure your site is visually consistent and appealing.

Each subsite has its own theme setting. When you apply a theme it will not affect the layout of your site. In addition, applying a theme will not change any individual Web pages that you have applied themes to by using a Web page editor compatible with Windows SharePoint Services, such as Microsoft Office Office FrontPageĀ 2003. When you create pages, the default theme is applied automatically. If you change or remove the default theme, the change is applied to the entire site.

To apply or remove a theme on your site, you must have the Apply Themes and Borders right for that site. The Apply Themes and Borders right is included by default in the Web Designer site group.
