Language template packs for Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services are available as downloadable files from Windows Update. You can install language template packs to support Web sites in 26 languages. For a complete list of supported languages, see the Windows SharePoint Services Resource Kit.
To install a language template pack, download it, and then run Setup. At the end of setup, Internet Information Services (IIS) automatically restarts. If you are in a server farm environment, you must install the language template packs to each front-end Web server in the server farm.
During installation, Windows SharePoint Services adds the site templates to the default installation directory, under the \TEMPLATE\LCID directory, where LCID is the locale ID for the language. After installation, server administrators, members of the SharePoint Administrators group, and users with the Create Sites and Workspaces or Use Self-Service Site Creation rights can create Web sites based on the language templates by selecting the language on the Create Top-Level Web Site or New SharePoint Site pages.
If you no longer need a language template pack, you can remove it by using the Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel. This removes the language template files from the \TEMPLATE\LCID directories.
Caution When you remove a language template pack, any sites based on that language no longer work. You can re-install the language template pack to restore the sites.
