Delete a site

Delete a subsite

Note  To complete the steps in this section, you must be a member of the Administrator site group for the site that you want to delete.

  1. On the top link bar, click Site Settings.
  2. In the Administration section, click Go to Site Administration.
  3. In the Management and Statistics section, click Delete this site.
  4. Click Delete to confirm.

Note  If the site you're deleting is a Meeting Workspace site, ignore step 1. Instead, on the Modify This Workspace menu, click Site Settings. Then follow the remaining steps.

Delete a top-level site

Note  To complete the steps in this section, you must be a member of the Windows Administrator group on the computer hosting the top-level site that you want to delete.

  1. On the computer hosting the site, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click SharePoint Central Administration.
  2. Under Virtual Server Configuration, click Delete site collection .
  3. In the Enter Site URL section, type the URL of the site that you want to delete.
  4. Click OK.
